A Phi Sigma Gamma Sorority and Izaak Walton League dance followed the event.
Ohio's 98th General Assembly may open January 3 on a streamlined plan proposed by Sen. Margaret A. Mahoney and Rep. John F. Cantwell. They seek equal committee numbers in each chamber and joint hearings to shorten the session to about four months, possibly saving time and money for participants.

Congress may vote a pay raise next month for President Truman making him the first $100,000-a-year president. Mayor Roger W. Friend announced Boyd V. Wright will resign as city service and safety director effective January 15, 1949. Wright served since January 1, 1948 in a $2,400 yearly post overseeing waterworks street maintenance and other city duties. successor to be appointed after January 1.
New York reports show Christmas shopping in the final hours could push December sales to a record, with estimates around 13 trillion dollars in 1948 retail volume. Dun and Bradstreet data suggests the year will exceed 1947’s peak by eight to ten percent, marking 1948 as a potential records year.
Nine year old Ralph Alan Greggory received a nine week old fox terrier named Pal from the school savings department staff of the Society for Savings Bank in Cleveland. Pal had died after an auto accident and the boy had withdrawn ten dollars for the dog’s care. The bank workers raised funds to cover the total one hundred dollars the boy had withdrawn to treat the dog.
A 16 year old boy Guido Stella may lose his right eye after three youths threw acid at him in Cleveland area. Mayor Frank Fickel of Wickliffe said the attack was being handled by juvenile authorities and the three assailants were in custody awaiting further action.
