The LOGAN DAY by ED STAFF reports that on Sunday afternoon members of the lodge will distribute food baskets to widows of deceased members and others in need. The committee handling the effort includes P. A. Schrader Charles Sheets and Robert Snyder.
Christmas snowfall delighted residents as Thursday's long fall left city streets bare by Friday morning while surrounding hills and woods remained blanketed. Forecasters predict another snowfall by Saturday, prompting expectations of fresh white cover.
A new poetry volume titled Fair's Mart of Verse by Leslie J Meade of Tu dor House Plainfield N J includes two poems by Rev Mary Wahl of Logan. The Rev Wahl’s poem Old Fash ed Roses is on page 163. The book issued for the World's Fair honors American writers including new poets.

The two Logan units of the H. C. Godman Shoe Company will resume production on Tuesday January 2 after a three week shutdown. Superintendent Robert Harley said the entire 435 workforce will be recalled as new machinery has been installed. Production will begin with spring merchandise and new designs.
Paris reports a bridge near Notre Dame connecting Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite collapsed after a heavy barge struck its central arch. A gas main exploded and rescuers pulled seven from the river, with two confirmed dead and at least three seriously injured. about thirteen others were unaccounted for on December 22.
Auxiliary Bishop James A. McFadden of the Cleveland Diocese was among 17 people injured by falls on icy sidewalks yesterday. He sustained a broken ankle and damage to his foot.
Two passenger trains crowded with Christmas travelers collided at Genthin station. The Berlin Neukirchen Express hit the Berlin Cologne train during an unscheduled halt, killing 70 and injuring 100. It marked the worst German rail disaster since the war began, the eighth in a series.

Cleveland officials announced that the city is feeding all its indigent residents. Relief executive Sidney T. Rowley said about 65,000 people will not go hungry, though Christmas aid may be limited. He noted increased federal surplus commodities this year due to higher government supplies.
More than 50 firefighters fought frigid winds to subdue a major fire in Midland Pennsylvania. Two buildings housing a drug store and a furniture company were destroyed. Eight families lost their homes and possessions. No casualties were reported and damage was estimated at $100,000 by Chief Edward J. Barrett.
