A new two mile Rome Rural Line will connect with the Independent exchange and serve residents east of town. At a Bushong home meeting, temporary officers were elected and more farmers joined the plan, with pole staking already completed and wire stringing soon to begin.

Chestnut Hunters Galore at Furnace Hills Trip
Sunday’s ideal weather drew many chestnut seekers to Furnace Hills with every kind of vehicle. Abundant crops filled the hills but many hunters left empty handed while Lewis Haines bagged 12 quarts and a black lizard. Public school classes also visited on Saturday, making noise on their return.

He carries a Bible he took from the field at Bentonville and saw Capt McCaskey after the war. The event marks the fifty year anniversary of departure for the front with many veterans in attendance.

At a Lancaster county meeting six foresters courts arranged boom sessions in each town. All degree teams will tour every court and one visiting team will confer degrees. Parades precede sessions with dates set for Columbia Oct 24 or 27 Mt Joy Oct 30 or Nov 18 Lititz Nov 8 or 29 Eph rata Nov 22 or Dec 13 Lancaster Dec 21. Iron girders arrive for Lutheran church roof support
Eight iron girders weighing over a ton each arrived at the railroad freight yards for the new Lutheran church under construction here. Unloading required a derrick to lift the beams from the car and place them on a wagon, a sizable task ahead for positioning at the site.
A Fine Catch of Salmon at Susquehanna River
On Tuesday near McCalls Ferry dam Rev J E Keene N D Sturgis John Wom mert Chas H Kreider Samuel Foltz Wmn Kissinger Clayton Schmuck and George Miller fished the Susquehanna River. The water was good for salmon and they landed twenty two fish among Lititz anglers including a 22 inch specimen by N D Sturgis. The party also caught several water dogs or hellbenders.

Dr E E Evans traveled to Nazareth on Tuesday with his youngest son Arthur and brought him back after a brief stay at Nazareth Hall Military Academy. Arthur and brother Raymond had joined the academy the prior Tuesday. Arthur soon suffered homesickness and was sent home, greeted by a huge smile.

Trolley Car Accident Near Neffsville Delays Evening Route
A trolley from Lancaster left at 11 pm Sunday collided near Minnich's turnout by Neffsville. The motor dropped, delaying traffic about an hour. The front rail part of the floor broke and the car rode the ties for a stretch before stopping. Twenty five passengers faced risk as some jumped off, others walked to Lititz or rode a replacement car to their destination.

The Linden Hall Seminary executive committee met Tuesday evening. E. L. Garber was chosen chairman and Miss M. J. Derr secretary. Principal Rev. C. D. Thief Routed at Kreiders Hardware Store
A would be intruder tried to enter Chas. D. Kreider's hardware store on East Main street just after midnight last Friday. Kreider woke, saw the man flee after the thief realized he was detected, and a prior visit by a suspicious man purchasing unusual chewing tobacco is noted as the likely reconnaissance.
