A committee meeting in the Council Chamber on Friday Nov 3 decided to move next year’s Community Show to the first week of October with shows on October 3 4 and 5 to ensure better weather. New officers include President J C Brubaker Vice President Martin Muth Secretary Cullen Carpenter Treasurer C J Zartman Superintendent W M Pfautz Manager Exhibits Thomas Waddell Poultry Exhibits H B Strickler Automobiles and Machinery J F Longenecker. The group plans broader advertising and an expanded premium list with many new entries.
Miss Helen Yerger relaunches her home kindergarten at 534 East Front Street inviting additional children to enroll in the local program.
The American Legion Post hosts Armistice Day observances in the High School Auditorium Sunday at 7 30 P M Lieut Colonel Daniel B Strickler of Lancaster delivers the address. Wm Lamb Jr a 12 year old cornetist and xylophone artist from Pottstown performs. Lititz Male Chorus and High School band provide music. Post 56 presents a silk American flag to the High School. Open to all residents.
The engagement of Miss Ruth Mae Eshleman of Center Street to John R. Bringer Jr of Middletown was announced Saturday evening at a home gathering. A luncheon followed with guests including Lou Etta Hershey Mae Wahl Kathryn Sturgis and Helen Greenley from Lititz and Clyde Wenger Clarence Herr Paul Seaber Herbert Mentzer and others from Lititz Ephrata and Elizabethtown.
The Lititz Moravian church choir and trombone choir visited the Masonic Home at Elizabethtown on Sunday. Rev. E. S. Crosland spoke to residents in the Memorial Chapel and the choirs performed both indoors and outdoors by the hospital and chapel.
Zem Zem Siesta No 77 of the Princes of Bagdad has reorganized, with W Martin Hess among officers. Members of W D G No 582 may reinstate without paying back dues. A booster meeting was held in Lancaster with good attendance. for details contact J Albert Hall.
A local gunner returning from a rabbit trip in deer country learned of widespread illegal deer shooting by natives. Carbon County game wardens found a deer with a hind leg shot off and other evidence of unlawful hunting.
Lititz Borough recorded 1819 total votes in the presidential election the heaviest here with 1643 for Hoover. Voting stayed steady all day as factories closed or gave time off. State constitutional amendments failed locally. Lancaster County's Republican plurality exceeded 40,000 with results from Warwick East Warwick Elizabeth Penn Manheim townships and more.
The Society of Farm Women No. 1 met at Mrs W Martin Hess's home on Saturday with about 25 attendees. Miss Doty of the Welfare Federation spoke on Broken Families, Mrs M W Hess led devotions, Miss Bernice Erhart read scripture, and refreshments were served. The next meeting is set for December 1 at Mrs Harry Burkholder's home in Rothsville.

William Diehm suffered a severe right hand injury at Dellinger’s machine shop in Lancaster last week. Two fingers were nearly severed and the hand was badly lacerated. He receives daily dressing at Lancaster General Hospital and doctors hope the fingers can be saved. He is the son of Stanley Diehm of Front Street.
Tuesday night at about 10 o clock a collision occurred on South Broad Street near the borough outskirts between Mrs Viola Kissinger driving an Oldsmobile and a drive-it-yourself car carrying three Lancaster men. Both vehicles were badly damaged though repairable, and the trio plus Mrs Kissinger were taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not serious. State Patrol investigators handled the case.

David Helman a tobacco packer has bought five crops after being out in the field. D W Withers also purchased some crops. One raiser offered his crop at 22 cents but no sale occurred. Some farmers say they will hold out for 25 cents.
County Agent Berger of Lebanon summarizes L Madison findings from Pennsylvania State College on using potatoes for hog feed. Experiments indicate 420 pounds of potatoes equal 100 pounds of corn, with cooking and grain mash improving results. A ration adds oats middlings and tankage or fish meal, plus a mineral mix of limestone bone meal charcoal and salt fed at one percent or available in self-feeder.
Rabbits were abundant on opening day with many collectors reaching the daily limit of five. Hunters across Newton County reported plentiful catches including rabbits pheasants partridges and squirrels. Abram Hershey Oawen and Newton Hershey had a two day haul totaling thirty rabbits five squirrels four partridges and two pheasants. One gunner shot four rabbits with four shells in four minutes ten seconds before missing the next shot.
A party last Wednesday evening at Chefs Place hosted by Lititz youths featured games and costume prizes for the prettiest outfit awarded to Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Engle and the funniest costume to Miss Lottie Kiehl. A chicken and waffle dinner was served in the private dining room to many locals including Mabelle Steffy Bertha Bachman Betty Krumbine Mildred Keith Mary Eshleman Violet Helter Lottie Kiehl Alna Brookmyer Thelma Pfautz Bart Sharp Paul Doster Russell Longenecker Daniel Erb Homer Hackman and several couples.
Potatoes sold from 10 cents to 50 cents a bushel at the Warwick House sale on Saturday. Apples ranged from 1.85 to 1.60 a bushel, chickens from 84 cents to 1.34 each, guinea chickens 70 cents each, bananas 65 cents to 1.60 a bunch, onions 45 cents a peck, candy 56 cents a box, cigars 90 cents to 1.20 a box. Tables priced 2 and 3.50 and 85.50 bed and spring 3.50, dressers 2.50 to 5, carpet 24 to 80 cents a yard, children's suits 2, women's dresses 70 cents to 1.20.
P F Snyder driving to the Masonic Home at Elizabethtown had a close escape at a Pennsylvania railroad crossing near East Petersburg when a fast train appeared. He swerved just in time to avoid the track and was aided by a bystander who stopped the car from plunging into a deep ditch.
The Lititz Unit No. 56 earned a special commendation for conspicuous service in advancing the American Legion Auxiliary program during the administrative year and for contributing to its achievements through devoted work and recognition.

Four patrolmen of the State Highway Department stopped autoists on the outskirts of town this week to test lights. Forty per cent of the lights did not meet the requirements of the law. Lights must be tested every 90 days at an official adjusting station and the approval card carried by the driver.
