Berkshire Hogs Selected From C F Hess Farm
Twenty five Berkshire hogs were chosen to form part of a carload sent to the International Stock Show in Chicago this December. Five shoats were selected from Christian Hess's stock, near Lititz, to be finished at State College. Lancaster County Berkshire Breeders Association members toured the county, viewing a herd of over sixty animals. Dr. H H Havre of Penn State selected the feeders. Mrs. Emma Fritchie, president of the Pennsylvania Berkshire Association, joined the group along with others from nearby counties.

Memorial Day Observed in Lititz with Military Honors
Lititz commemorated Memorial Day with ceremonies across graves including the Moravian cemetery. Civil War veterans and descendants joined American Legion members and Sons of Veterans in a hollow square ceremony led by a G A R representative and a Legion bugler. Rev George D Clarke and Rev W K Fleck spoke while Theodore Hacker read Lincoln. a salute marked the Joseph Kofroth grave as the band played in Springs.

Jacob B Young 65 died at his son Howard's Cedar Street Lititz home after three weeks of bed confinement. He was active in town affairs as burgess assessor health officer and church leader. Survived by wife Emma Stark children grandchildren and siblings. Funeral service held at Howard Young's home and Evangelical Church with Rev Harper officiating. Burial in Evangelical Cemetery.

Lititz public schools will close this Friday with commencement exercises set for Tuesday evening June 6 in the High School auditorium. Barn Raising At Grosh Farm Impresses Town
About 150 people attended a barn raising on B F Grosh's farm east of town Tuesday. Timbers were set as dinner was served outdoors under Mr Grosh's roof. Emma Long oversaw cooking. The 90 by 50 foot barn will have a four rock base and cement ground floor with electric lighting and running water for stock.

Auto Crashed Into Tree Near Rothsville In Sharp Crash
Roy Zartman and Ammon Longenecker, young Lititz residents, were in an Oakland touring car that veered off the state road near Rothsville and struck a large tree in front of Jacob Landis home. Longenecker, ejected, sprained leg. Zartman cut by glass with a deep leg wound. hood telescoped, car damaged beyond repair. Zartman said to have fallen asleep while driving home around eleven.

Daniel B Neff died at Bethlehem on Friday evening May 25 and was buried in Harrisburg on Monday. He leaves a wife and four sons and one daughter. Among his sons is Lester B Neff of Lititz Paper Box and Printing Company. The deceased had recently visited Lititz.
