Death of Charles B Amer Prompts Community Mourning
Charles B. Amer, 29, died at his South Broad Street home after eight days of typhoid pneumonia. He was born in Kissel Hill, educated in local schools, and led the family box factory. A tenor, violinist, and choir member, he belonged to St. Pauls Lutheran Church Lititz Male Chorus and two lodges. Survived by his parents and sister Emma, with funeral services held Tuesday at his house and St. Pauls Lutheran Church, interment in Machpelah cemetery. Numerous floral tributes and thanks from relatives and organizations marked the bereavement.

Death of William C. Enck in Lititz Moravian church service
William Clayton Enck 41 of South Broad street died after a lingering throat illness and complications. Born in Manheim township and raised in Brickerville he worked in Wolfe's store candy making baking and as a salesman for Ideal Chocolate and Westcott of Philadelphia. Survived by wife Katie and children Paul Mary Earnest, plus four brothers. Funeral in Moravian church this afternoon with burial at the adjoining cemetery conducted by Rev. St. S. Hagen.

Former Brunnerville Resident Dies in Columbia
Mrs Susanna Brubaker wife of Henry Brubaker of Columbia died there on Thursday of last week from a complication of diseases aged 57 years 8 months and 24 days. She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Peter Shoemaker of Brunnerville and lived there until about twenty years ago when she moved to Columbia where she was well known. Besides her husband she leaves three brothers Andrew Brunnerville and James and Jacob Shoemaker of Lititz. The funeral was held in Columbia on Monday.

Woman Loses Right Eye After Eye Hospital Operation
Mrs. J. C. Rhode visited Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia on Monday May &, underwent surgery last week. Reports indicate the operation did not succeed as hoped and she has lost sight in her right eye. Doctors hope she retains vision in the other eye to avoid total blindness.

Heat Wave Holds City In Record Heat This Week
The city endured its hottest period for this time of year during the last part of last week and on Monday and Tuesday. Thermometers stayed near 90 degrees each day, reaching 94 in the shade at 2 PM last Friday. After seventeen years in service, R N Wolle’s bay horse Major was disposed of last week and moved to Daniel Weachter’s Pine Hill premises. Major, a Lititz staple and family pet, needed rest in old age though he soon adjusted to his new home. A New Holland baseball representative arranged for the last New Holland nine to visit Lititz for a Fourth of July attraction, with Lancaster County champions seeking the pennant again. Lititz fans regret Decoration Day doubleheader at New Holland is cancelled.

A Story of Contagion and a Contested placard Charge
In Lancaster Borough Alderman Doebler heard Ephraim Herr on a health law violation. Health Officer Deen and Constable Lollar placarded Herr’s premises for contagious disease, Herr protested and tore down the placard, was arrested, refused bail, jailed, then posted bail for a Monday hearing. The alderman fined Herr twenty five dollars plus eighteen dollars costs. Sweet potato sprouts offered for sale by Henry B. Snavely at his Lititz R F D No 5 farm.
