The annual Moravian Home benefit collection will be taken in the Moravian church on Sunday. The town notes a variety of local events from baseball games on Thursday to hospital visits and community news across Lititz and surrounding areas.
Oberlin ay Oberlin died suddenly of apoplexy at his home near Krou station aged 22. Funeral services held Sunday with details at Hess' home. Mother's Day May 13 advertises Bevenswick gifts from J.B. Young & Son at 38 E. Orange Street.
Agent Hall of the American Railway Express Agency reports rising outbound shipments and town industries taxed to capacity. He notes Kilby Shoe Service shipments form the largest part, totaling 233 pieces across multiple packages, and promotes money orders and travelers cheques while inviting public feedback. Hall, nine years with the company, aims to improve service and stay long-term.
The State Legislature approves imprisoning women who fail to pay taxes to aid collectors. Delinquents include women who avoid elections and refuse to pay taxes. Law allows levy on real estate and personal property for unpaid taxes. commitments to jail may be issued. Also advertises Middy blouses sold by Miller & Hahecker.

Two fires within hours kept Lititz fire company busy. A blaze at Oregon's general merchandise store and restaurant owned by BE Blanchard destroyed the building and contents, with $3,500 loss. A separate Brickerville home owned by Addison Blantz burned, with first floor goods saved and total loss estimated at $4,000. Firefighters lacked water supply and hose access as routes were hampered by poor roads.
B F Lutz owner offers an acre site with bath house in eastern Lititz as a perpetual gift to the borough. The plan envisions a wading pool for children with a simple drainage and emergency water supply from town mains. Council members expressed favorable interest but have not finalized the proposal.
A chimney fire at the Lebzelter farm west of Kissel Hill caused excitement as Lititz fire company used a hand chemical outfit to extinguish smouldering contents in minutes. Several hundred cars gathered nearby before the blaze was controlled. Separately a 7:30 am fire at Lititz gas plant damaged loose materials, quickly tamed with hoses. engine arrived but not needed.
Thirty four barrels of bonded whisky valued at about fifty thousand dollars were loaded onto a large motor truck from the Habecker distillery warehouses at Elm. The liquor was sealed in a box car at Reading station and shipped to Philadelphia under guard. Six armed guards supervised the move after two loot attempts on the warehouses. The guards repelled the thieves until state troopers arrived, but the burglars escaped. The scene drew much attention.
Three year old June Hammer fell from an auto traveling about twelve miles an hour near Clay after accidentally turning the door latch. She landed on the pike, was dazed then recovered with scratches but no internal injuries. A doctor found her fine and she is lively again.
Recalled memories detail Rothsville Whit Monday races, beer profits, and crowd atmosphere once free of charge. Remarks describe changes, a Redman chewing tobacco truck, and a Lititz man noting a bank defaulter, plus a humorous love letter and a fireman’s garbled gear incident.
The Ephrata Band will perform Saturday at 7 30 P M with a band stand in the Springs Hotel yard. Last Saturday Lititz Band attracted a large crowd. pavements and streets were crowded and shops stayed busy on merchant sale day. An afternoon of Industrial League baseball saw Lititz Paper Box defeat Hackman and Hornley 9 to 3 while Chesolate Nine routed Oneidas Community 15 to 5. McCloud pitched for Hackman and Hornley as Vic Wagner, in citizen clothes, contributed at first base and in hitting. The crowd enjoyed nine-inning play and the Fire Company benefited with a donation.
Miss Amanda Landis of Millersville spoke about her trip around the world and Mr Nathan Reist described various kinds of trees at the Society of Farm Women gathering hosted by Mrs Cullen Carpenter at Pine Hill on Saturday. Samuel Bushong Jr gave a recitation.
Twenty four friends attended a party for Martha Sturgis celebrating her twelfth birthday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Sturgis. The life hostess received many presents and the gathering was enjoyable. Fresh meats and high grade shoes were advertised at Pfautz Bros.
