Series of Saturday Band Concerts Assured at Lititz
A series of fourteen Saturday evening band concerts is assured in Lititz with Chief Burgess Diehm guiding. The first concert will open the series with the local band, plus occasional performances from bands from nearby towns, on the stand by the Farmers National Bank lot, weather permitting.

Auto Crash Breaks Into Country Road Parade
An automobile collided with a buggy while traveling toward Hershey on Sunday. Hiram Longenecker and wife, with Addison Shue and wife, near this place, caused an excitation by speeding to pass fifteen autos ahead. They struck a horse and wagon carrying two men and a woman named Bachman. The wagon’s four wheels were smashed and occupants thrown onto the road. The horse escaped, but no injuries were reported.

Auto Truck Crash Damages Buick Near Lititz Farm
A Buick touring car owned by Clarence Grosh was damaged when an Eugene Brubaker stone truck rolled back on a hill near Henry Hershey's farm, striking the car as Grosh and a companion talked beside the road. The truck slid into a ditch. no injury reported. In Lititz, school directors named new instructors for the upcoming term starting September 2, with salaries raised by ten dollars per month and a 10 mill tax rate.

Funeral for Charles H Kreider Draws Large Local Attendance
The funeral for Charles H Kreider, held last Friday at his East Main street home, was largely attended. Rev. E. S. Hagen and Rev. E. S. Crosland officiated, praising his exemplary life. Interment followed in Moravian cemetery with oak casket and floral tributes. Bearers included S. C. Hassler, L. N. Moyer, Robert Russell, J. F. Stoner, Charles Landis, and Robert Pfautz. Kreider left all to his wife and she plans to sell the hardware store.

Sgts Harry Weitzel from Camp Devens returns on furlough, expecting study at a war college and a commission. Devens runs a 400 acre war garden with German POW labor. Frank Meiskey and Samuel Hoffman of the 19th Engineers in France report letters home. Frank recalls the voyage length and meeting Edwin Wissler. He notes France produced 25 cent strawberries and French wooden shoes, which he says are two miles too big and filled with grass for easier walking.
