The Lititz fire company strawberry festival at the Market House drew a crowd and raised 458 dollars, topping all previous events. About 375 dollars was profit with popular dishes selling briskly as Hackman’s Orchestra provided music and the band debuted its season with patriotic selections.

Marked Improvement Planned For Conestoga Line Upgrade
General Manager R B Hull of Conestoga Traction Co says tracks will be raised from the line’s focal terminus southward for about a square within days. Memorial Day Observed by Veterans and School Children
Veterans of Stevens Post No 517 G A R joined by local school children decorated graves at Machpelah Kissel Hill and Evangelical cemeteries and later marched to Moravian cemetery. Rev J S Harper gave a patriotic address on liberty loan issues. An honor flag from the government was presented on the veranda of the Young Men's Business League by Jos B Wissler and accepted by Chief Burgess G G Diehm to honor citizen patriotism and support for the war effort. The flag may be displayed with the service flag at the fountain on special occasions.

Miss Jennie Miller, a Red Cross nurse recovering from diphtheria contracted on duty at Camp Merritt New Jersey, arrived Monday to her parents Mr and Mrs Joseph P Miller in Lititz. She will stay a few weeks before returning to duty.
