George Therrein joins Moyer s drug store as clerk, a Detroit High School graduate with prior work in Atlantic City and Reading. William Oehme mailed 1100 barred rock chicks from Waynesboro Va alive at arrival. Frank Rader and A M Kreider fish often near streams for suckers. Kilmer Bender sold a Front street residence to his father. Lloyd Bender plans to move from York to help his father butcher. Lititz High School Band performed on street last Friday to appreciative listeners. John L Peiffer broke several ribs when a ladder fell while cleaning windows at Farmers Bank. Harry Stoner to open a second floor photo studio at Pfantz Bros store, Saturdays only. An employee at the Trap factory received a large birthday package of 46 packs of chewing tobacco. A South Broad street house was sold at public sale to Warren George for 3030 dollars. Beover property on Cedar St. was withdrawn. Lititz residents watched a Downingtown vs Pottstown basketball game with former Legion players Weiss, Carpenter, Armpriester, Bixler, and Adams. Adams will train for the Florida season with the International League.
Frances Willard Memorial Program Held by W C T A
The Frances Willard Memorial program was held Monday evening with Mrs. M S Hess in charge and Mrs E E Nethercott leading devotions. Readings came from Mrs. Mary Miksch Miss L A Weitzel and Miss A V Grosh with quotations from Frances Williard addresses. Three dollars was donated to the Frances Willard Memorial Fund. The next meeting is planned for Monday February 28 at Mrs Elizabeth Hepp home. A surprise meeting will be led by Mrs J K Mathers. Hepp displayed posters for the movie Lest We Forget to be shown at the annual dues meeting March 14 in St Pauls Lutheran church.

Boy Scouts to Manage Lititz Springs Park Cleanup

Chief Killed by Policeman at York Parsonage
An unidentified man from Harrisburg was shot and killed Sunday in the parsonage of the First Moravian church York during a gun battle with plain clothes officer Michael S Schwint who fired after being alerted by Rev Albright about a suspicious figure. The intruder had entered to rob the parsonage and the aftermath occurred as church services next door concluded unseen. Rev Albright, a frequent Lititz visitor, alerted authorities leading to the shooting.

Garage Near Landis Valley Destroyed by Fire
Fire wrecked a frame garage on Martin Funk's farm near Landis Valley on Saturday evening destroying the structure and a sedan inside. Loss is estimated at 1000 dollars. Two Mechanicsburg Fire Co members were injured en route when the fire truck side swiped an auto and hit a telephone pole. McElroy aged 54 suffered a broken leg and broken ribs, Hilton has a sprained ankle. The light car was wrecked but the owner escaped unharmed.
