Man Overcome by Smoke As Fire Threatens Mill
John Habecker 33 of Lititz owner of the Lancaster Wood Company was overcome by smoke while attempting to extinguish a fire that damaged two sections of the plant. He was treated at St Joseph's Hospital and later discharged. Firemen tore down part of a ceiling to reach flames and saved remaining areas. The blaze started near a stove pipe on the second floor and caused hundreds in damages.

Betty Pasnacht wife of Harry Fasnacht of Ephrata is among missing persons. She is believed to have eloped with a Reading Railroad engineer who left a wife and three children in Reading. Her sister Helen, a graduate nurse at the same hospital, will be her nurse. Substitute Miss Julian Hutchinson of Huntington, a Juniata College graduate who taught at Orbisonia last year, will teach in her absence.
