Edwin Sturgis Civil War Veteran Dies at 85
Edwin Sturgis, a Civil War veteran born October 1, 1843, died Friday morning and funeral services were held Monday from his S Cedar Street home. The ceremony, led by Rev. E. S. Crosland, drew many mourners and Garden Spot Post American Legion members gave military honors. He served 25 months in the 122nd Pennsylvania Volunteers and Independent Battery 1, fought at Chancellorsville and Fredericksburg, and later worked in pretzel baking.

No One Held in Death of Woman in Crash
An inquest ruled no one will be charged in the death of Mrs. Josephine Parry 40 of Columbia who died after an automobile collision on Lincoln Highway beyond Maple Grove.
