Town events note a Santa visit scheduled for 2 to 5 pm and 6 pm onward at the fire hall with gifts for children under nine. Parents must accompany each child. The piece also mentions school closings for Christmas and various local notices.
The Legion Post will conduct a lucky number drawing at 7 o'clock rather than 8. The public drawing takes place at the Post home on S Broad Street.
Calendars are now ready at The Record Office. Subscribers may obtain them by calling at the office any time after Friday noon. Several designs and sizes are available this year. The Record asks that adults or a note from parents accompany children to verify subscriber lists so each person receives a calendar.
A Broad Street merchant, missing after a Christmas rush, is found asleep beside a radio on the second floor after his wife reports him missing. She investigated the house and discovered the husband resting in the living room beside the radio.
The High School Literary Society will present a Christmas program Friday at 1 45 p m in the auditorium. Harold Murr reports a theft of a lot of old metal including copper worth 170 dollars from a barn in North Alley. The robbery happened early Sunday morning. two men were seen loitering on Frank Spickler’s Main Street property the same night, but no solid link or evidence exists yet.
Work proceeds rapidly on a large frame tabernacle beside Central Park in Coatesville for a five week evangelistic campaign beginning December 30. Volunteers from diverse walks of life assist with construction. The event will be led by Evangelist Neighbour who recently ended a series of meetings here.
Linden Hall held a Christmas vesper service Sunday evening led by Dr. F. W. Stengel. The Mary Dixon Chapel glowed with trees lights laurel and candles as carols filled the hall. Students planned candle supper for Wednesday and depart for Christmas vacation tonight. Linden Mall Girls hosted parties and trees across rooms while classes hosted reciprocal gatherings.
Eight county delegates to the annual convention of the Pennsylvania State Educational Association at Reading next week are announced by County Superintendent A. P. Mylin. Delegates include M. C. Demmy of Lititz and others from Lancaster and Manheim areas. The Barber Shops of Lititz will be closed Christmas Day and New Years Day.
The Brunnerville Cemetery Company will host a sourkraut and clam supper at the Band Hall on December 29 from 5 to 10 PM. Music provided by the Peerless Novelty Orchestra of Lancaster.
Turkeys ducks geese and chickens will be given as prizes at the card party tonight at the fire house. Proceeds support the local charity drive and community fund.
Around Town notes Christmas decorations in The Square with a tree and fountain display and hopes for carol singers. Lititz post office handles about 15 000 first class pieces daily, plus 2000 parcel posts, with peak season ahead. Firemen offer a 24 pound turkey as a door prize at tonight's card party. An old Lititz resident recalls the days of high wheel bikes and Century Runs on Kissell Hill.
The Neighbour Tabernacle Campaign concludes with large crowds and an offering surpassing 1500 dollars for missions. Highlights include a Thursday testimony by J Arthur Schlichter of Philadelphia, visiting ministers, and a Gospel Song Concert led by F Nevin Weist with local talents. The Lititz Community Chest final figures are in and will be distributed this week through the Lancaster Welfare Federation. Funds across Lancaster go to the American Red Cross and three hospitals, while Lititz funds aid local charitable relief. Needy cases should be reported to Red Cross, Community Service, the American Legion, or the King’s Daughters for immediate help.
Representatives of six Circles of King's Daughters of Lititz plan their annual trip to the Zion Home for the Aged north of town on Friday evening. An auto bus will depart from Miss Mabel Leib's house on West Main Street at 7 o'clock. The guests will receive Christmas boxes and are to be entertained with Christmas carols.
Frank H. Gable the Jocal Hudson and Essex dealer has leased the old Withers garage on E Main Street to sell his car line. For now repairs will continue at the Lincoln Avenue Garage. He invites friends to inspect his cars Friday and Saturday.
Mrs. Jacob Fenstermacher of Rome hosted a surprise party for her husband on his 36th birthday last Thursday. Twenty four guests attended and enjoyed a large birthday cake. Family members Anna Esther Catherine Elmer and Christ joined, with several Lancaster guests present.
The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Fire Company will host a fire prevention demonstration and talk on Thursday night January 3 at 8 P M in the fire house. Dr E M Ranck of Bird in Hand will speak. Public invited and refreshments served. The auxiliary is the county and state’s largest. All members urged to attend.
Mrs. Henry Singer returns from Allentown. Numerous local residents and visitors weave through Christmas holidays with family ties across Lancaster, Reading, Philadelphia, and Wellsley College. Names include Kilgore Worley Huebener and Sillinetter with a 45th wedding anniversary celebration.
