Colored Giants to Return Here Saturday
Keystone Colored Giants of Philadelphia were booked to play here again on August 6 with Lititz after a rain interrupted game. Despite rain both teams played fastball and the sixth inning call spoiled what could have been the season's best game. A good crowd witnessed the action and another large turnout is expected next Saturday with fair weather and strong advertising.

Weachter Family Visits Lititz for Funeral and Mushrooms Fortune
Mr and Mrs Hiram Weachter of Lansdale Montgomery county stayed in town last week to attend the funeral of Daniel Weachter in Pine Hill. He built a fortune growing mushrooms and selling hot house tomatoes shipped to New York. He serves as trustee in constructing a new Hastern Penitentiary at Skippack and praises Lititz as a clean town he visits often.

A nest of five young rabbits was found near the wire screening by three boys at the base ball field. Three were taken home and released with parents and Policeman Kreider’s involvement. Kreider investigates boys who disturbed a pheasant nest with seventeen eggs. the hen left the nest.

Helen Sturgis had her tonsils removed at Lancaster General Hospital on Monday. She is daughter of N D Stangis Mrs Samuel Eby of Lexington whose husband died seven months ago. Eling Gilmore colored quarry worker was hit by an automobile Sunday at Brunnerville and taken to Lancaster General Hospital. He had been struck by a railroad engine several years ago.

Foltz Rescues Boy Scout From Susquehanna Depths
Carl Foltz saved a drowning Boy Scout from a twenty five foot tow er on the Susquehanna. He reached the boy thirty five feet from shore and brought him to land un aided. The boy clutched Foltz by the neck but Foltz freed him and guided them toward shore. Foltz used a hair grip and submersion to complete the rescue. The rescuer is from Lititz and the boy is from Lancaster.

Arm Burned in Gasoline Explosion Near Neffsville

A stroke of lightning struck the Eckert residence on South Cedar Street near Second Avenue. Fireballs detonated inside the house while a family of seven, including four children, escaped unharmed but frightened. Evidence of damage appeared on linoleum and wall plaster. a nail with a detached aerial wire showed a blackened mark outside.

Henry Lutz built the first jack rabbit ride in Lititz on Cedar street for local kids. The cart runs on a four hundred foot track from a corn crib and returns by boy power, charging a cent per ride or six for a nickel. Tin reinforces the worn sections and funds will extend the track length.
