Miss Anna K. Miller announces that the High School commencement exercises will be in the new auditorium this year. The program runs June 2 3 4 with a Moravian church baccalaureate service, class day, and commencement. Rev Christian Reisner of New York City will speak.
Deaths and funeral notices from the Lititz and Manheim region recount Amanda Rentschler wife of Jas Rentschler dying April 19 near Millersville at 57 with service at Longenecker meeting house. Also Fannie Landis of Manheim dying at St Josephs Hospital age 22, and Henry Brubaker dies near Manheim from paralysis. Surviving relatives listed with residences and interment details.
A reception for Rev W K Fleck new St Pauls Lutheran pastor and his wife and mother was held Thursday evening in the church attended by many. Rev F A Weichsel led the program with the Junior vested chair singing America and The Star Spangled Banner. Greetings came from local ministers including Rev Geo B Raezer and others. Mrs M H Yoder and Misses Ethel and Beryl Masser performed solos and duets. Manager Charles Rosenberg of the Dreamland theatre notes Joan the Woman will show May 8, featuring Geraldine Farrar, praised for inspiring patriotism.
The Dorcas King's Daughters Circle presents Lost- A Chap eron at Linden Hall auditorium, May 2 at 8 pm. Miss Mary Huebener leads the circle and caste in coaching the play with Huackman's Orchestra providing music. Proceeds support the circle's charitable work.
Moravian Home matron Libbie Buch fell in the cellar steps on Monday afternoon as her heel caught. She sustained numerous bruises and a cut nose when her eyeglasses broke.
A large Lititz meeting at the Young Men's Business League backs the Third Liberty Loan. Citizens pledge to canvass the community and sell Liberty Bonds to meet and surpass quotas. Residents urged to buy bonds now through local banks, supporting soldiers and national defense with Fourth percent interest, safest investment.
Rev. J. W. Bittner, former Lititz resident and current Kutztown Lutheran pastor, recovered his Hudson Super-Six touring car stolen in Reading last Friday. Abandoned in Lebanon the next morning, the thieves had mutilated license tags to hide the theft. The car, valued at 1700 dollars, was identified and returned to the pastor on Monday afternoon after a police watch.
Scout Commissioner Leonard Will enroll boys over fifteen to assist farmers as production and harvest needs rise this season. The movement, supported by the government, aims to organize local youths into the Boys Working Reserve. Leonard will register volunteers at the Scout headquarters and his home this week and urges parents to encourage participation for the common good. Pfantz Bros. reports a full line of Boy Scout uniforms and sundries.

Local Red Cross Society appeals for aid with foot rulers yard sticks and several small sewing or working tables to support workers in need. Community members are urged to contribute to alleviate shortages and assist ongoing relief work.
Pupils in town schools are buying thrift stamps and war savings certificates each Monday. First week raised 148.70, second week 287.57 with detailed grade totals. Linden Hall Seminary students also show patriotic support. A nearby tank exhibit and Liberty Loan boosters are planned with speeches at the Young Men's Business League. A chain letter method is proposed to boost stamp sales, while building permits slow due to war needs. Lexingtion miller B B Snavely shipped 78,400 pounds of flour valued at 4000 to Alabama, held by government for licensing.
Mr Richard Stockton of Lancaster the noted Moravian church organist will present a recital at the Moravian church on Tuesday evening May 14. He is regarded as Lancaster’s foremost organist and the town’s music lovers will welcome the concert.
