Henry Brookshire of Odon had a minor operation this morning. Fred Gabbard of Linton route 2 had a major operation this morning. Mrs James Schmitt and baby were discharged to their home this afternoon. Miss Eunice Price of Bloomfield also taken home this afternoon.
John Workman 63 a Bloomfield resident and former Richland township deputy assessor died from self administered carbolic acid in his barn. He told his wife she might not see him again before his body was found around 9 AM. He left a widow and two siblings, with funeral plans pending.
Reports from Berlin indicate Soviet Russia sought a friendship accord with Germany Poland and nearby states to build an eastern European security front. Negotiators between Russia and Germany were said to be in progress with officials offering cautious responses.
Warsaw May parliament granted President Ignacy Moscicki sweeping powers in military and economic affairs to strengthen defense. The decree remains in effect until November 1. The sejm voted unanimously, with Ukrainian and Jewish members supporting the measure amid national unity.
