Funeral services for J P Starnes 70 a Solsberry resident were held at the Solsberry Methodist church with burial in Solsberry Cemetery He died at a daughter s home from complications of diseases and heart disease Surviving relatives include two sons Cecil and George two daughters Edith and Lucille and a stepson Flon Callahan all listed with Solsberry and nearby towns.

Pitching duties go to Greenwood Trinkle or Prudhome as Mellick will umpire a 2:30 p.m. start and a large crowd is expected.
Shoals Ind May 6 The Martin County poor farm will cease operations as the old age pension system reduced its population to one resident. The county contracts with Dubois County to send inmates for 4 dollars weekly plus medical bills, saving about 250 dollars yearly. The farm buildings are condemned and the land will be rented for private farming, with costs of continuing operation estimated between 2500 and 3500 dollars annually.
All members and others interested in pitching horseshoes should report Sunday morning at Humphreys Park. John Wilson, president, will organize plans to visit Sullivan for a horseshoe match with the Sullivan team.
G L Hudson Indiana deputy bee inspector will visit Greene county early next week to perform a bee inspection, announced by the beekeepers association members.

Evansville police and deputy sheriffs were asked by Probation Officer Florence Rode to help locate Beverly Love, 18, missing from Brazil for more than a year. Her mother, Mrs Byron Love, says she may be in Evansville where the family lived until two years ago. Beverly is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 127 pounds with grey eyes and auburn hair. freckles noted.
David D. Wiles Camp No. 86 United Spanish American War Veterans and Auxiliary announce a regular meeting at 176 Fifth Street Southeast at 7 PM Monday May 8. Guests Mr. and Mrs. York of Hartford Kentucky will attend. Members urged to attend and bring a covered dish.
Linton City Street Department trucks will begin work early Monday to clear rubbish during the annual clean-up week. Residents are urged to place waste in containers for free hauling, with the drive running through May 13. Last year hundreds of loads were removed and more are expected this year. There is no charge for the service.

Gilbert Reiber Gio Brown and Arlie Wymer of Linton were taken to the Indiana State Penal Farm to begin thirty day sentences for public intoxication. They were sentenced in mayor's court in Linton and fined 10.80 dollars plus costs.
The Greene County Federated club announces the Music Festival has moved to May 14 and 15 from May 22 and 23. The change aligns with Linton Stockton High School graduation.
Eight year old Junior Ralston son of Mr and Mrs Y C Ralson of Mississippi fractured his left arm in a fall from a park slide at Humphreys park. He was taken first to a local physician then to Freeman Greene county hospital for treatment. His parents reside in a trailer in the local park.
