The Indiana State case against Dustin McDonald for assault and battery and malicious harm began in Greene circuit court Bloomfield after a venue change from Monroe. A 12 member jury was picked from a 25 name panel. McDonald a former Linton High School and Indiana University football star.
The Linton Ministerial Association reveals Holy Week observances. Prayer meetings will be held Monday through Thursday at 9 50 am in five city sections and at 12 20 pm at the Methodist church. Good Friday services run noon to 3 pm at Evangelical and Saron Reformed churches with four 45 minute periods. Special school services at the Methodist and Baptist churches occur in the afternoon.
A fire at the Indiana State Penitentiary farm in Putnamville caused an estimated 100000 in damage. The blaze started in the blacksmith shop and spread to the garage and carpenter shop. Nearly fifty vehicles were moved out safely as state police and nearby fire units assisted. no injuries were reported.
Police stood guard at the Hettvick Manufacturing Company plant in Goshen Indiana as AFL members passed a CIO congress picket line. Thirteen pickets arrested in a riot were released on their own recognizance after clashes between labor factions. Police used tear gas bombs to quell the outbreak when the AFL tried to drive into the plant.
Mrs. Claude Clark underwent a major operation this morning along with Mrs. Carl Rouch. Mrs. Cecil Brown of Bloomfield had a minor operation Wednesday afternoon. Roy Cox of Solsberry route 1 was dismissed Wednesday after TOOT.

The senate elections committee named a trio to review the contest for Frederick Van Nuys Indiana Democrat. The panel will examine charges by Raymond E. Willis defeated Republican candidate alleging voting fraud and political coercion in the race.
Clarence V. Crockett, 65, former teller and cashier of Farmers' National Bank in Shelbyville, Ind., held on $5,000 bond in Birmingham, Michigan, accused of embezzling $42,000. A federal grand jury had indicted him days earlier. he served the bank for thirty years.

Three local youths were arrested in Linton as robberies were marked solved. William Steele 22 William Candler 23 and Norman Miller 17 signed confessions. Candler and Miller admit to several thefts and the aborted Perry burglary.
The Scitamard Club of Linton Stockton High School will stage Oliver Twist at 2:50 PM Saturday in the high school auditorium. Barbara Raney serves as stage manager. a small admission is charged for the public.
Claron Lefty Veller resigns officially from his role as LaPorte high school basketball coach after a leave of absence. The LaPorte school board renewed a contract with successor Jack Steward. Veller formerly starred at Linton High School and Indiana University in baseball and basketball.
