A Michigan City grand jury returned a second degree murder indictment against Frank Freyer over the death of Dorothy Boerner found at Freyer's farmhouse north of town. Authorities say three blows to the head caused the death. Freyer is jailed without bond as defense counsel is requested and no trial date is set.
Mrs Tula Turner Taylor Morgantown teacher received salary with interest for two school years 1987 and 1988 after a Morgan County circuit court ruling. She had been denied a teaching position in Morgantown schools. She is sister of Mrs Thelma Smylie of Linton.

Two bandits robbed Mace grocery in Anderson Indiana of about 1600 dollars. One waved a gun to threaten workers while another scoop up cash and fled in a car driven by an accomplice. State police set up roadblocks but failed to locate the suspects.
The White River reached 26.75 feet at Elliston with forecasts of a crest near 27 feet. Roads including state road 57 north of Newberry Sandborn Elrora black top and Plainville Edwardsport highway closed. Wheat fields flood and river experts warn of continued high water ahead.
Vincennes Indiana March 15 Theodore Watson an Oaktown gas field worker was fined 25 dollars and costs by Mayor A B Taylor in the city police court Tuesday on his plea of guilty to carrying a concealed weapon The weapon a German army automatic was ordered destroyed by the mayor Watson was arrested by Oak town marshal F O Hamilton and brought to Vincennes He was turned over to the county jail for the night Hamilton said Watson had gone on a spree and was flourishing the gun He noted that when sober Watson was an ideal citizen but when intoxicated was inclined to trouble
A license was issued today by clerk Claude Story of the Greene circuit court in Bloomfield to Hays L. Fish laborer and Lillian Ferrell Malone both residents of Newberry.
Jasonville High School crowned king Douglas Wood and queen Norma Whittington from the freshman class after a student body election held during the Winter Festival season. The festival, held annually by the senior class, marked the fourth straight year of the event with the freshman slate winning a voting majority amid spirited competition.

Funeral services for Richard Burcham age nine months son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Burcham near Park east of Bloomfield were held this afternoon at Walnut Grove church with burial in the adjacent cemetery. The infant died Monday in Riley hospital Indianapolis from acrodynia a rare disease causing reddened skin and hands and feet. He is survived by his parents one grandmother Mrs Lizzie Burcham and the mother Helen Bazan before marriage.

In Jasper Indiana on March 15 Mrs Robert Scherle 30 had a second son weighing seven pounds at 11 am marking exactly four weeks since her first twin born February 15. The first twin named William Joseph Scherle and the new baby unnamed. Both mother and babies in good condition after a serious illness period.
Colonel Albert Marpurg of the Salvation Army served in the Netherlands and Far East. He spoke at the Linton Rotary Club in the Methodist church and will address a missionary rally tonight. He has held key posts in Denmark and the United States and is a certified accountant. Public invited to attend.
Mrs. Dencil Shepferd of Bloomfield rural route underwent a major operation this morning. Mrs. Floyd Headley of B street northwest also submitted to a major procedure. Mrs. Cecil Brown of Bloomfield has been admitted for treatment. The condition of Miss Mary Nell Tate who recently underwent an appendectomy is reported to be satisfactory.
