Farm couple slain and daughter assaulted near Edinburg
A farmer Paul Brand and his wife were murdered on their Edinburg area farm last night using a .22 caliber rifle. Their 12 year old daughter Gloria was raped by a single intruder while the family slept. A male hired hand, Cliff Redmond, is missing and being sought by police.

Miner Overcome Recovered Today At Mid-Valley Mine
Cyrus Ferguson of Lyons was revived after being overcome by bad air while working at the Mid-Valley coal mine east of Switz City. Ward Davis of Linton and four other miners, in separate rooms, felt dizzy as Ferguson collapsed. Artificial respiration saved him. a faulty air fan hampered circulation and the mine was closed for repairs.

Cow Attacks Farmer and Wife After Cat Fright
