Indiana House votes to pass Markland liquor reform bill
Indianapolis Feb 28 The house Republican majority agreed to adopt senate amendments to the Markland liquor reform bill and pass it this week eliminating a special session. The bill would end the beer port of entry and allow unlimited beer wholesalers. The house also passed a bill abolishing the state printing board and creating a public printing bureau. They advanced a workmen compensation insurance bill, set to create a five member board, with four governor appointees and one ex officio council chair. The house killed a proposal to waive bar exams for certain law graduates and did not extend license plate deadlines. A move to restore pre Prohibition liquor control to counties was approved as a special order for tomorrow. The house also approved $1000 property tax exemptions for disabled veterans and widows with property under $5000.
