Fair and mild tonight in the Greene Sullivan area with a chance of afternoon and evening thundershowers Thursday. Lows mid 60s tonight and Thursday high in the upper 80s. Tuesday highs around 84 and overnight low near 64 with a 7:30 a.m. reading of 68. Friday through Sunday expected to be warm with daily chances of showers and thunderstorms.
Indiana man Valentin Sanchez, 52, of Gary, died after a lightning strike while fishing with family at Marquette Park Lagoon on Gary's east side. No other injuries reported.
The Commerce Department reports Leading Economic Indicators down 0.2 percent in May due to a $1.2 billion drop in the money supply. The dip surprised analysts as it was not caused by weather or strikes. The report notes the May money supply fell to $222.1 billion in 1972 dollars.
