Weather outlook for Greene Sullivan area shows showers and storms

Today will bring a good chance of showers and heavy thunderstorms through the night. Partly cloudy and less humid Wednesday with a high in the upper 80s and a low tonight near 68. Temperatures record a 76 high and 68 overnight yesterday with 71 at 7:30 a.m. Thursday to Saturday turn fair and mild then warm with possible thundershowers Friday and Saturday.

Indiana Traffic Safety Chief Predicts July Fourth Crash Toll

Indiana Traffic Safety Council director Samuel L. Burch warned 17 people may die on state highways during the Fourth of July weekend starting Friday evening. He noted last year’s similar period had 17 fatalities and said results may not improve. The holiday ends at midnight Monday.

Missouri reports two Legionnaire disease cases this month

Missouri health officials confirm two Legionnaire disease cases this month with both victims recovering. The latest patient is a 51 year old Douglas County farmer who fell ill in May with chills and fever and developed pneumonia. St Johns Hospital reports his condition as improving. A separate note mentions a scuba diver mauled by a bull shark near Mayport Florida may lose his lower right leg. Willie White, 27, remains in stable condition at Beaches Hospital.

Inflation pushes up vacation and car ownership costs in Greene County. A AAA survey shows a modest two week trip now costs about 950 dollars, with daily 68 dollar travel budgets and 2019 dollars overall spent on 13,070 local cars totaling 26.388 million annually. Gas stations report receipts climbing to 9.035 million from 4.811 million three years ago.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms sweep southern Indiana

United Press International reports Evansville area received over two inches of rain in three hours as storms hit extreme southern Indiana. Indiana 66 flooded in Spencer County while forecast calls for more showers and storms statewide with highs in the mid 80s to 90 and milder conditions midweek.
