He vows the Townsend plan will not fail and be enacted in the lifetimes of attendees as delegates briefly endure a tame morning session and report 1938 receipts of 204686.79 dollars led by Robert Townsend.
John Harve Royer aged 65 a longtime Coalmont resident was found dead in bed from heart disease. He was born January 14 1874 in Clay County and lived in the region most of his life. Survived by widow Stella Royer four sons four daughters a stepson stepmother and step-siblings. Funeral set for Sunday at 2:30 in the Church of God Coalmont with Rev Fred Puckett. burial Sanders cemetery. McClanahan Funeral Home of Jasonville in charge.
Bricklayers carpenters and other union members from the locality are urged to attend a special meeting at 10:00 AM Saturday in Linton City Hall. The announcement was made today.
Mrs William Sciscoe of Linton rural route underwent a major operation this morning. A son named Ronald Mack was born this morning to Mrs Lowell Mitchell of this city.
The United States and Britain sign an agreement for trading cotton for empire rubber. Ambassador Kennedy and Oliver Stanley announce 500,000 bales of cotton may be exchanged for rubber, held for use only in case of major war, with tin and wheat reportedly excluded.
Rollie A. Collins 74 year old farmer of Sandborn rural route died at 6 00 pm Thursday after a week long illness. Born January 16 1865 in Sullivan county he lived most of his life in the same community. He married Minnie Unger in 1892 who died in 1898. He belonged to the Carlisle Presbyterian Church and the L O F lodge. Survived by brother John Collins and sisters Cora Collins and Mrs Alice Collins. Body moved to Newkirk Funeral Home Pleasantville and burial follows at Bethlehem church cemetery near Carlisle.
In Bloomfield clerk Claude Story reports two marriages: Thomas A. Nugent and Bonnie Ellen Quackenbush of Owensburg, and Fred Ritter of Bedford with Catherine Hill of Bedford. New cases filed include Detta Hudson versus Morris Hudson for divorce, Allen A. Wilkinson Lumber company versus Chloe N. Miller and Hershel Courtney for foreclosure of a mechanic's lien, and Yancey Zachery and Pearl Miller for writ of habeas corpus.
A letter from Daily Citizen details three Linton youths Chester Stoeckel Bruce Peltier and Charles Alsop attending Hoosier Boy's State at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Nearly 700 attendees hold offices with sports bands and law schools alongside lectures and government drills. The camp is sponsored by the American Legion and will adjourn Saturday morning 11 a m with memories and legal knowhow to take home.
Mrs. Louisa LeCocq Borelly, 24, lifelong Linton resident, died at 5 30 PM Thursday in Methodist Hospital Indianapolis from complications after an appendectomy. She was born January 21 1915 in Greene County and married Jules Borelly on July 4 1937. Survived by her mother Cleatha LeCocq, brother Paris LeCocq, grandparents Elmer and Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. LeCocq. Funeral set at Welch and Cornett in Linton with Rev. Harry J Bailey. burial in Fairview Cemetery.
All members of the American Legion Rifle club are urged to attend a meeting at Page's range this evening. Arrangements are to be made to attend an outing at the Mt. Carmel Gun Club in Illinois on Sunday.

The Greater Linton club announced the Fourth celebration will be the biggest ever with special floats from Greene County and Terre Haute experts assisting. A state conservation exhibit of Indiana native animals and birds will be free at City park. A spectacular fireworks display is planned to be more elaborate than past years with thousands expected to attend.
Portsmouth June 25 Rear Admiral Cyrus W. Cole testified at a naval court of inquiry that raising the sunken Squalus and its 26 dead may take at least a month or longer. The 1450 ton submarine sank off the Isles of Shoals a month ago after 40 fathoms of water. 33 were rescued. Cole, commandant at Portsmouth Navy Yard, examined possible causes including a faulty main engine air induction valve.
Members of the Christian Youth Advocates invite all young people from Linton and surrounding community to a regular meeting Sunday at 6 30 in the First Baptist church. The Baptist group will lead the program.
In Shelburn Indiana on June 23 a one head three eyed kitten is shown at the John Timmer home. The Giant Angora, owned by Mrs. Trimmer, produced the odd kitten from a prize winning dam and double prize winning sire. The litter includes seven normal kittens. The extra eye lies between the two noses and the kitten struggles to nurse from its two mouths.
Sheriff officials said charges against Everett Summers would hinge on John Klinger's attitude after the shooting near Bicknell Indiana. Klinger, injured with a shotgun wound to the head and shoulder, said the violence arose from a tractor trade dispute with Summers and his guardian father. Summers was jailed after surrendering at his father’s farm.
Banks will stay open to 5 p m today for pay day then close at 4 p m on pay days starting July 6. On non pay days they remain open until 5 p m. Greene County banks examine Saturday closures as neighbors already do.
Mrs Roy Dreiman and her son Jack along with nephew Dick Rausch of Santa Cruz California are visiting Mrs Dreiman's parents Mr and Mrs Gale Jackson. The Friendly family gathering highlights a return to hometown roots.
In London Chamberlain told Parliament that Japanese insults at Tientsin were intolerable and that the Japanese ambassador would meet with Foreign Secretary Halifax to discuss the matter. He said reprisals over the Tientsin blockade were not being considered yet.
The Linton Merchants travel to Greene county Recreation league play to face Worthington Merchants in a two game series. Linton sits undefeated in league play as Stockrahm Prudhome and Hayes headline the lineup. First game starts at 1 PM Sunday with many fans expected from the region.
Six Linton boys led by Percy Goodson and Oscar Haussin return from a three day camping trip at Red settlement camp in Martin county. They visited Carr Dam and the Natural Museum and plan an all day visit to Shakamak state park.
