Bloomfield Park Opens With Band Concert and Picnic

Bloomfield opens its new park with Alfred M. Beasley of Linton speaking at 1:30 PM, dedication of the newly built bandstand, noon picnic, and afternoon games including tennis and horseshoes. The Bloomfield baseball team faces Indianapolis colored team at 3 PM, with band concerts at 2 and 4 PM featuring Sousa selections and medleys. Also listed are church services and a local court case, plus a marriage license granted to Elmer D. Flory and Susie Stanfield.

John Brown of Bicknell transacted business in Lyons Friday. Many local residents and visitors called on friends and relatives during the week. Rev Byrd Squires will arrive Saturday night to preach at West Island church with services invited to the public.

More Arrests Made in Coalmont Robbery

Three Greene county residents were arrested after an attempted robbery at Peter Dolian’s Coalmont filling station. The Print Calverts and Marion Strouse were taken into custody in Fairplay, Worthington, and Jasonville, with transfers planned to Brazil. A confession to Brazil officers preceded their arrests.

Barnyard Golf Tournament Sunday in Linton Park

A horseshoe tournament will be staged Sunday at 1:00 PM in Linton City park between Linton and Jasonville. Linton will field players Jerry Clayton Robert Harbett Claude Sharitz Oscar Anderson James Wills Jess Alsop Isaac Cox James Bennie Rennis Wolfe Walter Wolfe Buck Wilson Harvey Fisher and Charlie Letsinger. The teams are evenly matched with Linton favored to win.

The Rumble Amusement Co announced its rides for the Fourth of July celebration in Linton arriving from Arkansas due to southwest rain. The company cited weather as the reason for the early arrival to ensure the carnival attractions are ready for the crowd.
