Funeral Services for Kenneth Deckard Held at Antioch Church
Funeral services for Kenneth Deckard were held at 2 pm at Antioch church in Sullivan County. He died from a lightning strike on Tuesday afternoon near Bloomington, along with three others. His body was brought to his home near Long's Chapel Wednesday evening. He is survived by his widow, one child Norman Gee Deckard, his mother Jennie Nation, a sister Bertha Daniele, a half sister Freukes Nation, and a half brother Freeman Nation. Burial followed at Antioch cemetery.
Little Bobby Roach Breaks Right Arm In Unlucky Fall
Little Bobby Roach son of Mr and Mrs Cleatus Roach fell and broke his right arm between the wrist and elbow Tuesday noon while playing. This marks a similar injury to the same arm suffered three years ago in about the same place. In other local notices Sanford Chestnut and family of Westphalia visited Quince Hardisty and family. Sunday guests of James Freeman and family included Mr and Mrs Hatten Melvin Hatten and Marl Ross of Linton Cleatus Roach and family and Geo Canady and family. They motored to Bicknell to spend the day with John Silvers and family. Mrs Mattie Morgan and son Robert hosted visitors this week including Mrs Bess Wright and Mrs Grace Morgan of St Petersburg Fla Mrs Jed Morgan of Indianapolis and Mrs Phoebe Royer and son of Albuquerque NM. Miss Ivo Mardisty a student at the state normal at Terre Haute spent the weekend with her parents. Raymond McKee and family hosted Cleatos Burdsall and Gale White of Hene and Ray Shake of Terre Haute along with Mrs Quince Nardisty and daughter Elizabeth and Mrs George Canady visiting Tuesday with Cleatus Roach and family. L L A Tumber of Lyons and Levi Chestnut and family were guests Sunday. John Canady and George Canady Sr and daughter attended church at Westphalia Monday night.
