Leg Is Fractured in Bizarre New York City Accident

Mrs. Will Talbott of Linton suffered a fractured leg in Roosevelt Hospital after a cab passenger leaped from a taxi, colliding with a policeman and triggering a chain reaction that toppled Mrs. Riggs and then Mrs. Talbott. The incident occurred in New York City after a Niagara Falls and Canada trip.

Hospital births and receipts of patients at local clinic

Mrs. Pauline Holder of Linton route 2 welcomed an eight pound one ounce boy. Mrs. William Kahn of Lyons reported a nine pound fifteen ounce son named Thomas Earl. Cletus Bough of Switz City had minor surgery. Marc Sahm of Linton went home Monday. Mrs. Raymond Livingston and baby, and Mrs. Nancy Padgett and baby, were taken home to Worthington.

Indian Enterprise Explodes in Red Sea Killing Many Aboard

A British freighter laden with explosives, the Indian Enterprise, blew up in the Red Sea killing or accounting for most of its 74 crew. Reports say the hull vanished and survivors are burned with injuries as rescue efforts continue near the Suez area.

Lyons Woman Ella Hineman Dies After Lingering Illness

Ella O. Hineman 63 lifelong Lyons resident died at Freeman-Greene county hospital after a lingering illness. Born March 19 1887 near Lyons she was daughter of Oliver and Flora Phnelman. Survived by husband Jack Sr three daughters Flora Orcut t Evelyn Moore Barbara Wollenweber three sons Jack Dwight Julian one brother Lawrence Phnelman and sister Mrs Herschell Moore. Four Hoosiers Die In Clover Field Plane Crash

Four people from Lafayette including Clinton Ferguson his wife Marcia and their son Alden Partridge and pilot Robert Lahr were killed when an Aeronca crashed in a six acre clover field near Lebanon Indiana. The plane departed Lafayette for Fort Wayne late yesterday with Ferguson finishing work at Fairfield Manufacturing Co. The wreckage was found by farmer Claude Armstrong and taken to a Lebanon mortuary.

Dugger man 72 dies of heart attack at home

Henry Barnard 72 lifelong Sullivan county resident died suddenly at 1 15 this morning at his Dugger home. A retired coal miner he was born September 17 1877. Survived by widow Bertha four sons Henry Earl Robert all of Indianapolis two daughters Louise Flick Julia Floyd and Ruth Cox of Linton two sisters Julia Warren Rachel Lundblade twelve grandchildren. Teen captives held in trunk as killer dies in gun battle

In Mingo Junction a 32-year-old contractor, Joseph Pacific of Canonsburg, was slain by police after holding two teens, Nick Cursi and Joseph Zomerchick, in the car trunk for hours. The youths, both from Cokeport, described being threatened, robbed, and forced to breathe through a hole in the trunk lid. Pacific’s estranged wife Matilda, 30, escaped and called for help. She testified to prior pistol whipping and coercion.

Inquest Scheduled in Shooting Death

Evansville Indiana June 20 An inquest into the death of Eugene Castleman 40 who died from bullet wounds received June 11 in a love triangle quarrel was scheduled for today Ira Paul King 57 Terre Haute clothing salesman was sought for questioning at the hearing He admitted shooting Castleman twice when Castleman attacked him and his estranged wife Lena King Barber with a hatchet Barber was injured in the attack and hospitalised Castleman father of two children had objected to a reconciliation with Barber after a 25 year divorce.
