Auto Stolen at Switz City Found Near Bellville
The auto belonging to Mrs. Betty Alumbaugh stolen in Switz City at 9 30 p m Wednesday was found near Bellville in Henry county Thursday. The car was ditched while a driver fled after leaving a filling station without paying. After wrecking the car the suspect escaped on foot and is being hunted. Fingerprints were taken from the vehicle as part of the investigation.

Huntingburg Man Killed by Train Near Velpen
James E. Uppencamp, 48, Velpen, died after being struck by a Southern Railroad freight train near Velpen in Pike County. He was found lying with his head on the track and pronounced dead on arrival at a Huntingburg hospital.

U S Offers Planes For Water Drop In Sinai
The United States offered to provide aircraft to drop water to parched Egyptian soldiers stranded in the Sinai Desert following last week’s six day Arab Israeli war. The plan, proposed June 14 to the International Committee of the Red Cross, required agreement from Israel and Egypt and no answer had been received by mid day. Planes were on standby in Athens if needed.

World War II veteran dies in highway crash near home
Holmes a Bloomington Otis Elevator worker was on his was home from work when his car left westbound on the highway struck a bridge abutment. He left a widow Dorothy a daughter and four sons. He is survived by his mother two brothers two sisters and a wide circle of relatives. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at McHugh Funeral Home with burial in Little Flock Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Friday.
