Rites Arranged For Soldier From Linton
Funeral arrangements are set for Cpl. Frederick C. McLain 23 of Linton killed in a plane crash in India on Sept 25 1944. His body will arrive in Linton Thursday at 1 25 PM and funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM at the Welch and Cornett Funeral home with military rites by the Linton American Legion post. He served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps and had earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Dragon of The Clouds medal. He previously lived in Linton and studied at Indiana State Teachers College and the University of Wyoming. He was buried with military honors in Fairview cemetery. Immediate survivor is his mother.
