Man and Wife Die in Knox Indiana Auto Crash
In Knox Indiana two people were killed and three injured when a car on Ind 35 near Knox left the road and overturned. Rites Announced for Newberry Boy Pvt Robert D Gilbreath
Military funeral rites for Pvt Robert D Gilbreath of Newberry will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Newberry Christian Church. Son of Alva and Pearl Simpson Gilbreath he was killed in the India Burma China theatre on July 15, 1944 while serving with the United States Army. He graduated from Newberry High School and entered service Sept 9 1942. He trained at Camp Walters Texas and Camp Beale California. He was killed north of Burma. his remains were returned from a military cemetery 77 miles from Calcutta India. Survivors are his parents. The Rev Harold Payne will officiate with Bloomfield American Legion Post aiding. Burial will follow in Newberry cemetery.
