Giling contract awarded for Linton street oiling
The Linton city council awarded the summer street-oiling contract to Hargis and Son of Terre Haute at a special meeting. The bid was nine and three quarters cents per gallon. Green Construction of Otown submitted 12 14 13 ½ to 14 ½ cents per gallon. About twenty miles of local and unpaved streets will be oiled, with completion aimed before the Fourth of July. The 1947 cost is estimated around $1,800 and work should begin soon.
