An Air Force board opened an investigation into the crash of a new 400 mph B-50 bomber near Fairbanks, killing all ten crew members. Wreckage was scattered over a wide area with no chance of survivors as the aircraft, part of a five‑ship group, had recently arrived at Elison Air Base from Davis Monthan in Arizona to train for Arctic conditions.

Funeral services for Frances L Duncan who died at home in South Linton Thursday morning will be held at the Welch and Cornett Funeral Home on Monday Dec 27 at 2 pm with Rev Vernon Stoops of Gary Ind officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery. friends may call at the funeral home.
Frank DeFore of Coal City was admitted after an accident and released today. Bloomfield mothers welcomed a girl Alice Cathryn born Thursday and a son by cesarean this morning. Several residents including Fleeta Noel Emma South Leroy Baker and families were discharged or taken home in Worthington and Linton.

Santa Claus Indiana postmaster Elbert Reinke reported a record Christmas mailing season with about 3,000,000 packages letters and greetings passing through the Santa Claus post office in five weeks. He said the Christmas mailing rush is over as he awaits quieter days.
Linton fire crews responded around 5 o clock Thursday to the George Chapman residence on A street northwest where a fire around a flue caused minor damage.
