Great Victory Details and Aftermath in Texas Campaign

Reports recount Santa Anna’s early maneuvers against Taylor, fierce fighting near Agua Nueva and Buena Vista, heavy cannonading, and Taylor’s woundless courage. Wool and Taylor led volleys to drive Mexican forces, exchanges of prisoners occurred, and Santa Anna’s forces eventually retreated. Battle near Santa Fe defeats Mexican insurgents

An 1847 Santa Fe report describes 2000 Mexican insurgents marching on Santa Fe defeated by Captain Morcis in the Moro valley. Ensuing carnage includes many enemy killed or wounded and retreat to the mountains. The same dispatch confirms the assassination of Gov. fear and twenty five American fatalities.
