Minstrel Wits and Political Quips of 1933
A lively newspaper column lampoons Prohibition undoing and political muddle. It jests about a new civics term stened ocracy, laments Republican decline in state jobs, and riffs on social habits, taxes, and love of home entertainment with humorous vignettes about Grandpa, a boy tuning him, and a playful mistress of wit.

It proposes cooperative monthly sale days backed by intensive advertising, visible campaign cards, a live PTA presence, more Community Club members, a good band with weekly park concerts, a seven night home talent chautauqua in August, and greater personal time sacrifice for community benefit.

Citizens warn the more you buy at home the more taxes businesses pay, while critics accuse officials of pushing higher prices and costs. Frank Graf notes dairy and cream churns rise, with 86 customers counted in 320 gallons of cream last week, reflecting widespread concern. Grounding appears technocratic amid the furor.
