A one act farce titled Wives Wanted in Squashtown features Leonard Ditker William Adame and John Frey in the cast. Directed by Mrs Minnie Linn with assistance from Mrs Joan Wilkey.
Illinois State Register notes surveyors in Pike County advance Route 105 from Quincy to Meredosia with slab laid east to Liberty and progress across the north end toward Chambersburg near the Illinois River. Route 107 slab connects Pittsfield to Griggsville with a state and all weather link Perry to Griggsville. Gravel highway planned from Perry to Route 105 intersection linking to Pittefield and other highways.
Mrs Catherine Pullman died Wednesday evening at 8 30 in her home Burton township. Born April 8 1855 she was widow of James Pullman who predeceased her by eight years Surviving are her brother Joseph Howe Burton and a son D D Pullman Adams Illinois The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o clock with burial in Burton cemetery.
The Liberty Post reports Louis A. Johnson national commander will speak on NBC from Montreal Wednesday February 8 between 8 and 9 pm local time. Another NBC broadcast from Washington is scheduled for the night of March 56 from 10:30 to 11:30 pm.
Mrs G W Hunsaker died Friday at 6:40 am at the home of C G Buttz after several days illness. She was born August 3 1858 to Edmund and Mrs Grubb on a farm north of Liberty. Her husband G W Hunsaker died in 1932. Survived by three children E F Hunsaker Bertha Buttz and A O Hunsaker, two sisters Mrs Thor Corbin and Mrs Josephine Hessert. Funeral at Christian church Sunday at 2:30 pm. burial Liberty cemetery. Rev W A Taylor officiating.
Clarence Cook of Quincy Media died Wednesday after noon at 4 15 at St Mary hospital following illness starting Monday night. The son of Mr and Mrs James Cook he was born July 14 1901 in Adams Illinois. Survived by widow five brothers Charles Rock Island Chicago Aubrey Cleveland Ohio and a sister Mamie Pullman Carthage. He owned part of Power Boat Club until recent months and belonged to Masons Eagles Elks Baptist church at Newtown. Body taken to Burton for burial Saturday afternoon.
A Saturday night meeting in the opera house organized a taxpayers league with 120 attendees. Leader Henry Vollmer and county officials outlined cooperative tax relief aims, forming a county setup that can convene in 12 hours. Ed DeWitt was named township chair, Albert Flick secretary, five directors chosen, and a county executive committee to be formed.
