Picnic plans highlight 68th annual event with races and concerts

The plan calls for a noon opening at the picnic with a fried chicken dinner at 4 30 for 40 cents and 25 cents for children under 12. The Liberty band will perform from afternoon into evening with a Ladies Chorus singing beside songs. Amusement races include egg race sack race foot race and more with cash or trade prizes and a doll parade at 3 30. A baseball game Liberty versus Richfield starts at 2 with contests and prizes throughout the day.

Mrs Vivian Welton Dies After Childbirth at Blessing Hospital

Vivian Welton dies shortly after noon Sunday August 6 at Blessing hospital Quincy after convulsions following her infant daughter's birth. Born March 12 1914 she was 19. daughter of Ernest and (Mrs) Diehl. Survived by husband Vivian Welton and brother Merle. Funeral Tuesday at 2:30 at Christian church Liberty with burial in Liberty cemetery. Rev W A Taylor officiates. Community offers condolences.

Parking In Front Of Cream Pool Causes Inconvenience

Residents report cars parked in front of the cream pool hinder unloading heavy cream cans. The management asks drivers to park elsewhere except during unloading times to ease access and reduce delays.

Liberty NA code sets store hours for Plainville firms

Liberty business men in Plainville and nearby towns adopt a National Recovery Act code restricting hours of operation. Stores open at 7:00 am and close at 6:60 pm daily, except Saturday 11:00 pm. closed Sundays. Restaurants and druggists exempt except for non-edible merchandise. Garages and barbers未adopted. Code takes effect Monday August 14.

Golden Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Breckenridge

Mr and Mrs J B Breckenridge celebrated fifty years of marriage with a surprise at Liberty Park attended by about a hundred relatives and friends. The event featured gold and white decorations, an arch with a miniature bride and groom, a large anniversary cake, and gifts including gladiolas and gold roses.
