Athletics Split Even in Weekend Contests at Lexington
Sunday the Athletics defeated Corder, league champions, 6 to 2, with Jay Harding and Pete Cross homering. Schumaker started and drove in two, while Corder War was largely shut down after early innings. Monday the All Stars won in the first inning on a walk and errors, scoring four. locals De cure started, Clark closed, and Athletics added three late runs. Deputy Sheriff William P. Kelley arrested Lester Jarred in Oklahoma for aiding the Farmers. two robbers remained at large.

William Barentt sells his garage at 1205 Franklin Street to Maj. R. K. Latham and the stock and equipment to Emil Schenck proprietor of Santa Fe Garage at 11th and Franklin. Schenck leases the building and will continue the business at the present location including the Santa Fe. He took possession last Monday.

Public Schools Open Prospects For a Good School Year
The Lexington Public Schools began on September 6 with about one thousand pupils. Enrollment by school shows Arnold 390 Central 214 High School 151 Taylor 97 Douglass 148. Vocational courses in teacher training and home economics are offered with state aid for the teacher training salary and half aid for home economics. The home economics program spans two years with food clothing and shelter as headings. Thirteen of thirty-two teachers attended summer schools at various colleges. Summer repairs improved facilities, including painting and lab supplies. Prospects for the year are bright.

Miss Anna G Herd and Emil L Kroencke married Sunday afternoon at the home of the bride's parents 2115 Main street. Rev Arndt of St Pauls College Concordia officiated. Only family and close friends attended. Kroencke works with Herd Kroencke firm. They left for Rochester Ind and will reside at Thirteenth and South streets after returning.

Musgrove Founder of Local Paper Dies at 77
W G Musgrove longtime Lexington publisher and founder of The Intelligencer died Tuesday night at 8 45 at his brother in laws 911 Franklin street after several days of heart trouble. He helped establish the Caucasian and held various editorial roles in Lexington newspapers throughout a career spanning decades. The funeral was held Thursday at the Christian church with Rev Baxter Waters presiding. Johnson and Son of Independence advertise monument plans in the issue.

Young rider Cecil Thomas breaks leg in bicycle crash
Cecil Thomas ten year old son of Mr and Mrs A J Thomas of this city suffered a broken leg Friday morning after losing control of his bicycle on North 9th street and colliding with a light pole. The injury occurred when his left leg was broken between the knee and thigh.
