Wedding at the Christian church in Lexington
One of the prettiest weddings in years took place at the Christian church in Lexington on a Wednesday evening. Baylis Steele of Kansas City married Miss Olive Vivian Carter of Lexington, with Rev. Frank Waller Allen officiating. The ceremony featured white and green decor, organ music, and traditional vows. Afterward a reception was held at the Meng home, with guests including numerous Kansas City relatives who traveled by special train. The couple planned to reside at 427 Waldron Avenue after December 15.

A crowd insufficient for an praised programme attended the Driving Park on Monday afternoon. The half mile trot was won in two straight heats by G. Green, owned by Walter B Waddell, with times 1:20 and 1:24, followed by Auda and Daeful. The half mile pace saw Billy, owned by Dr. W. Bredendall, win in two heats 1:27 and 1:25, with Volmey and Jelle O as other entrants. The free for all dancing race was won by Mr. Clark amid a small field.

The Lafayette council adjourned Thursday night with Mayor Winkler presiding and all members present. The Lafayette Telephone Co filed its acceptance of the franchise granted by ordinance passed October 23, 1006. Mr Yingling moved to instruct the clerk to advertise for bids for sidewalk construction in front of properties where ordinances had been passed.
