Tragic Fire Claims Florence Hall At Reception
Shock gripped the town Thursday afternoon as Florence Hall died from burns suffered at a reception hosted by Mrs. J H Hall. A candle flame ignited paper shades, clothing caught fire, and despite efforts with rugs and blankets, Miss Hall perished by 10 p m. Florente Edna Gall, born July 17 1840, a Lexingto n High School alumna and former teacher, was active in Christ Church. Her living relatives include J J Tall Mrs Saunders Mrs Jobo Greer and Mrs Brannock. The Christian church service was set for 10 o clock today.

Nathan Corder Died At Home In Waverly
Nathan Corder aged likely 70s died at his home in Waverly on Sunday night November 5 after months of illness. Born July 14, 183? in Virginia he moved to Lafayette County as a child and became a large landowner and long time president of the Middleton Bank. He leaves wife and eight children, three surviving, with funeral at the family home then Machpelah Cemetery.

Me A W Elgin of Lincoln Kansas visited the Academy last Thursday. Mc J N Garvey and two sons from Kansas City visited cadets this week. Mrs Kendall Randolph and daughter from St Joseph visited Cadet Randolph last Sunday. The battalion is fully equipped and weekly inspections proceed. Vic companies progress in oils. A cross country club is planned for twice weekly. The Manus Training Department expanded and new quarters and classes are in use. Last year the clan’s work was strong and this year promises further success.
