Death of Jackson Corder Leads to Local Tributes
Jackson Corder of Lafayette County died in Independence Missouri on Friday November 10 and was buried in Washington cemetery. Born October 28, 1837 in Fauquier County Virginia, he was a Confederate veteran honored in the county for his stock business and social ties. Survived by wife Elizabeth Wall and three children W H Walton A Corder and Henry F Corder, his death recalls Confederate Decoration Day observances and local memorial work for the Confederate Home property.

Death of Dr Emmett Falkerson After Illness in City
Dr Emmett Falkerson died at his home Thursday morning at 10 80 o clock after a ten day illness ending in pneumonia. He was about 88 years old, son of Dr and Mia Falkerson, born in Wellington and educated in local schools and Wentworth Academy. He studied medicine with his father and completed City Medical College and a school of Pharmacy. A prior illness caused a constitutional breakdown, but he recovered before recent pneumonia and suffering. Funeral services by Reverend Ky Gordon of the Presbyterian church were held Friday afternoon at 2 30 at the family residence, with interment in Machpelah cemetery.

Monument design chosen for Confederate Home cemetery
The monument committee of the Repeaters of the Confederacy Missouri Division selects a Doric design for a 16 foot high, 60 ton granite monument at Higginsville entrance. It features four granite columns, the Confederate seal, and bronze seals with battle flags on the base. An inscription proclaims To Memoriam, Confederate Dead.

Local Boy Severely Injured When Horse Falls on Main Street
Emigene Whansler, son of Joseph Chnansler, was riding rapidly on Main Street when he turned onto 11th Street near Traders Bank. His horse fell, causing a compound fracture of the leg above the ankle with bone protruding through the skin. Bystanders carried him home for surgical attention.

Old Landmark Destroyed by Fire in Lafayette County
An old residence on Flam Ovchard Farm two miles south of Napaleos burned Monday night October 1905. Built in 1830 by Strother Renick, the house was among the state’s finest and hosted hospitality within its spacious rooms and wide fireplace.
