Prominent Lexington Citizen Benjamin Ireland Dies at Home
Benjamin R. Ireland, a respected Lexington figure and cashier at Traders Bank, died Thursday night at 5:30 at 1407 South Street after morning indigestion. Born November 29, 1837 in Lebanon, Tennessee, he served in the Confederate army and held public posts including Lafay ette County treasurer. He moved to banking, serving as cashier at Commercial Bank and then Traders Bank for 27 years. He joined the Presbyterian Church in 1855 and was a longtime deacon and treasurer. Survived by his wife Cynthia Hutchins and three daughters Fannie Stone street, B. B. Frazer, and Dr. A. J. Chalkley. funeral at Presbyterian Church Saturday at 3 PM.

A Glorious Defeat Dominates Local Election Results
In Lafayette county the Republican slate swept majorities with about sixteen hundred votes more than the Democrats. Captain Milligan is reported defeated and the closest Day Township race was Slade versus Seitz for constable with narrow margins. Mrs. Fannie Venable Hecker, the first woman voter in the state, cast the inaugural ballot. Mrs. Ryland Todhunter was named Missouri State Historian for the DAR.

Body of Ewald Beisenherz Arrives in New York
Mrs Katherine Beisenherz learns the body of her son Ewald Beisenherz arrived in New York from France where he died October 10 1918 from injuries in action. Private Beisenherz served in Company A 140th Infantry and will be buried in Concordia, his former home.
