Her brother Thomas H Sparks his wife and daughter cared for her during her illness. She was a Christian and devoted Methodist church member who valued home duties above all.

John Robert Owen died at his East Lexington home Tuesday evening at 7:30, aged 86 years. Born in North Carolina he married Jean Trotter in 1836 and leaves several children and many grandchildren. He moved to Missouri in 1846 and lived in the same house forty-five years. Funeral from his residence Wednesday at 3 pm with Rev. J. C. Given. interment Machpelah.
