A residence belonging to John Bour on South Street was discovered on fire around 16 o clock Friday March 28 while the family slept. Neighbors and bystanders quickly fought the blaze with buckets of water and the fire company responded, saving the home from total loss.

First Academy Baseball Game Delights with 5–2 W.M.A. Win

Death of Grant Gustav Seiter at 21
Grant Gustav Seiter died at his home Saturday night at 10 15. Aged 21 he was the youngest son of Mrs Leva Seiter and brother of John M Seiter and Mrs Annie Hennesey. He had complained but the heart rheumatism worsened a week ago and he died sitting up. He was a member of the Catholic church. The funeral took place Tuesday morning from the Catholic church conducted by Rev Father Costello with interment in Catholic cemetery.

Modern Woodmen Convened in Odessa for State Delegates
The Modern Woodmen of America county convention met April 1 1903 in Odessa Mo with all county camps represented. A M Rex of Odessa was elected delegate to the state convention in Jackson May 6 1803 and F W Dally of May View was named alternate. The delegate was instructed to use his best efforts for readjustment and to support John Sullivan of Kansas City for the board of directors. Next meeting will be at Lex Fogtun.
