Burglars Hit Wellington Bank Wednesday Night
Word from Wexington on Wednesday tells of burglars entering the Wellington Bank late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. They took loose change totaling 11.75 from the Wish tray and used nitroglycerin to attempt to blow the vault, tearing off the bolt. The robbers fled before waking further, leaving clues behind and a $2400 reward offered for their capture. The bank, organized in 1884, shows strong finances with 10,000 capital and 9,100 surplus. Two Horses Die in Fire at Rural Barns
Wednesday afternoon a fire at Mrs Garlanh Graham's place and at W. C. Duncan's inn destroyed a Graham barn with hay and kindling and Duncan's barn with a horse and hay. Neighbors and the fire department prevented wider damage. Duncan's losses exceed insurance with $400 total including barn, ware, harness, and feed.
