Open session recital at Central College draws large crowd
The Argenta Literary Society of Central College staged a lively Monday night open session in Murrell Auditorium. After the invocation by Dr Patillo, Misses Donovan and Daniel performed Kowalski’s Roses de Boheme, Miss Taylor delivered Non Nobis, and Miss Marshall told Old Mistis with strong effect. Local performers Groves and Littoral offered witty bits, Miss Shultz and Miss Hall contributed notable vocal and piano pieces, and Clara Hughes shone in the second act.

Mrs Maria Cooper, widow of Washington Cooper and mother of John Cooper of Dover and Sadie Gray of Argentine Kansas, died Monday morning at her Dover area home. Born near Kesington in 1806, she was the last survivor of nine Slusher siblings and a longtime Dover Christian Church member. Funeral Tuesday at 2 pm at the family home, Rev. R B Briney officiating. interment in the Stasher family burial grounds.

Mrs. Barbara Puckett aged 88 died in Mayview at the home of her son Thomas Puckett. Widow of Reuben Puckett she leaves a daughter Mrs. Davis of Kirksville.
