Fire destroys engine house at Serat mine blaze
Fire swept the engine house at the Serat mine east of the Missouri Pacific depot Friday about 6 am leaving it badly parved. Mine manager Edward Aull said damage depends on engine condition. if salvageable, work could resume in a few days, else it will take longer. Building was insured but machinery not. Cause unknown.

Mrs John O Meyer aged 72 years 2 months died Wednesday at 2 45 pm at her home corner Eleventh and South streets of heart disease. Born Caroline Blomberg in Germany she came to this country as a young girl. She married Rev John O Meyer May 1 1854 and is survived by six children: C F Tieman Leeton Missouri S L Meyer Denver Colorado Juin OC Meyer Wichita Kansas Fred W Meyer Fr Trumble Connecticut Charles Meyer and Mrs William Bertel Lexington. The couple shared half a century of life together and the bereaved husband and family mourn a deep loss in Christian faith.

At high noon Wednesday near Lexington the marriage joined Mr. J. L. Pemberton and Miss Mary Lankford with Rev. R. B. Linney officiating. Miss Lankford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Railway Accident In Sedalia Leaves Two Injured
Robert Cahill and Christopher Wilcoxon, traveling from Lexington to Concordia aboard Missouri Pacific, were injured when Cahill urged Wilcoxon to jump off at Sedalia yards. Wilcoxon fell, crushing his left hand and sustaining serious injuries. Cahill alerted depot officers. Wilcoxon received medical care and was taken to a city hospital.

Runaway Mail Carrier Injured In Route Accident
Phil Marshall, mail carrier on rural route Nol, was injured Thursday morning when a road cave in caused his wagon to overturn near Augustus Barley’s residence. The horse bolted free, the wagon burned, and Marshall was stunned but not seriously hurt.

Golden Wedding to Be Celebrated by McGarvey Couple
The Kentucky Gazette reports Elder and Mrs. J. W. McGarvey will observe their golden wedding this month with a reception at the Kentucky University gymnasium. City Council Advances Bridge Repair and Drain Plan
At the regular monthly meeting the council reviewed reports from the recorder calahouse keeper collector register and treasurer surveyor and claims committee. The bridge inspection urged immediate use of twenty-five loads of rough rock to stop wash at the upper bridge side. A four inch drain between the east Lexington water trough and the South street man hole was approved. The electric bill was discussed with a vote to pay 15 to the company. Joan Bray was granted a shooting gallery license at 86.50 monthly and Albert Walk was named calaboose keeper for the next month. The council adjourned to meet March 1.

Two of Lexingtons best horses are offered at the Goodwin-Gains sale in Huggineville March 24-27. Rustle B, owned by BR M Taubman and formerly Captain Barcett, is a premier trotting stallion in the region. Conspirate, a two year old trotting colt owned by Captain Ryland Todhooter, quickly showed 2 20 speed after first hitch. The pair are expected to draw strong interest, with Goodwin and Galpes praised for stock listings.
