Eighteen joined Friday raising the Lexington company total to 72 as exams completed for new volunteers. Maj. Ruby D. Garrett urged men 21 to 40 to enlist, aiming to reach a required unit size. The Fourth District Convention of Christian Endeavor was held in Lexington with over one hundred delegates lodging in local homes and dining at area restaurants. District President William Dickson Jr. was reelected, and Annie Herd and Lester Conner were elected to new district offices. Henry A Hoehn, Lafayette County resident, died at his Dover home after an accident. funeral services and interment were in Higginsville.

Willis Combs Dies After Illness at Nevada Missouri
Willis Combs a former resident of this city died Saturday night in a Nevada Missouri hospital after an illness of more than a year. He was born April 12 1867 the eldest son of the late Edward Combs. He is survived by his wife three children and three sisters Mrs A R McClelland Winona Missouri Mrs M A Grimes Snyder Texas and Mrs J Y Reynolds of this city. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 PM from the home of Miss Ollie Wyatt 321 Washington Avenue conducted by Rev R N Allen.
