Old German Evangelical church shack demolished in Lexington
A rough hewn log shack behind the German Evangelical church in Lexington was razed to clear the site for a new federal building. Louis Smith, an older Black resident, built the structure as a blacksmith shop for about 70 years. John T. Taylor, Sr., owner of several buildings on the lot, says work will not rush but begin in earnest this fall as preparation for a new Post Office proceeds.
