A Friday night storm caused major destruction near Mrs. J. F. Smock's property with hail and rain. A twisting tornado demolished outbuildings. a two story shed moved away carrying Mr. Smock’s vegetable wagon untouched inside. garden trucks and most fruit trees were destroyed. One and one eighth inches of water fell.

Captain R P Palmer, an army officer stationed at Wentworth for three years, has been ordered to report to Fort Douglas Utah to serve with the 42nd Infantry, one of the new regiments. Captain and Mrs Palmer departed Monday night with him heading to Utah and Mrs Palmer returning to Pennsylvania to be with family.

Death of Mrs. James A. Horn at Lafayette Street home
Mrs. James A. Horn died Wednesday night at 11 80 o clock after years of paralysis. Born in Bourbon County Kentucky July 21 1851 she moved to the county in 1860 with the Neal family. Married December 11 1867 she belonged to Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 37 years. Survived by husband three sons James Jr Jesse Robert and five daughters Mrs Mary Drumm Mrs Chas Iles of Mayview Mrs S B Iles Mrs S P Pool of Rosedale Kansas and Mrs Roy Hughes of Higginsville plus three brothers. Funeral today at 2 30 at the home conducted by Rev R N Allen.

Harry H. Barge died Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at his home 138 College Street after months of tuberculosis. Born February 11, 1888 in Sedalia he was 29. He married Margaret Warder December 28, 1915. Survived by wife daughter Carrie Virginia mother Susie Barge sister Mrs. F. L. Alfred and brother Clyde Barge. Funeral Tuesday at 2:30 pm at the Christian church with Rev. Richard W. Class Day celebrated twenty three seniors though weather stayed fair. College Club social events followed by a Grand Concert. Dr John F Caskey gave the commencement address on Tuesday morning. Diplomas and medals were awarded. faculty changes announced as the first year of Junior College closes.
