Mr Hoffmans retirement ends his long run as founder of Kington Brewery. Ownership passes to his son E W Hoffman and Engelhard who will run the plant. The brewery, opened in 1875, faced fire in 1902 but was rebuilt. Last year output exceeded 4,200 barrels of beer and 2,600 tons of ice.
